Emily Brailsford, National Programme Manager at Mothers’ Union, has been appointed as Trustee Board Chair at Girls’ Brigade England and Wales.

This year, Girls’ Brigade were delighted to put on a Spring Conference, open to all with a focus on sharing news from the GB family, training and bringing our volunteers together through sharing Christian values.

This year, Volunteers’ Week ran from 2 to 8 June. The aim of this campaign was to recognise and celebrate volunteers around the UK. Without our volunteers, Girls’ Brigade would be unable to deliver our message to communities up and down the country. In this case study, we shine a light on volunteers that have joined us recently or have been volunteering for decades.

The Girls’ Brigade Patron, Margaret Casely-Hayford, spoke about volunteering recently at a fascinating conference organised by YOU London (who represent the uniformed youth sector) and the Leathersellers Livery Company.

Judith Davey-Cole, Girls' Brigade CEO, has been installed into the College of Canons at Salisbury.

On Tuesday 20 May, several representatives from Girls' Brigade were stewards at the King's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. These stewards were recipients of the Queen's Award, and were lucky enough to meet Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales.

Here at Girls’ Brigade, we are so proud to see our members experience once in a lifetime events as a reward for their hard work. For this years VE Day celebrations, members and volunteers from 1st Laindon, 2nd Billericay and 1st Belfairs watched the annual parade from Queen Victoria Memorial Gardens. Rebecca Herrett, 1st Amesbury, was bestowed the immense honour of an invitation to join His Majesty the King to watch the military procession and flypast on May 5, celebrating the 80 year anniversary of VE Day. Members and volunteers of Girls’ Brigade celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day in many different ways across the country. From taking part and watching parades, attending concerts, or simply doing a VE Day themed activity within a local group, every group should be proud to have taken part in the national event.

On Thursday 8 May, Chloe Twist, Network Executive Member and Leader at 1st Whitton, attended the Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
