1st Redditch smash fundraising target

Two siblings in the n:counta section at 1st Redditch held a fundraising event very close to their hearts recently and smashed the fundraising they had set.

The grandparent of the siblings has two forms of Dementia and their team leader, along with the mother of the girls, wanted to help them feel they were doing something that would help their grandparent and raise awareness at the same time.

A Dementia UK ‘Time for a Cuppa’ coffee morning event was organised for Saturday 24 February and the girls, Erin and Leah, set about making bracelets and organising some fundraising activities while volunteers, friends and family baked in preparation for the event. A raffle and a competition to guess the weight of the cake were held on the day to raise additional funds and members of the community and church, families, friends and GB members all came along to donate and support the cause.

The fundraising goal for the event was £200, so imagine the elation at the end of the day when £1200 was counted!

Team Leader Tracey says, ‘We are incredibly proud of their hard work. This event came about because one of the girls asked me why God could not make her nan better.  So we talked about how God can work in other ways to help their nan and decided to raise money for the charity.’
