The new badge is called Bring a Friend and is for recognising GB members who bring a new friend along to join their group or for leaders who bring a new volunteer! It’s a generic pin badge that can be awarded more than once depending on how many new friends come along. To earn the badge, the new friend has to attend Girls’ Brigade more than 4 times and be entered onto GB Manager.
Along with the badge, a free certificate is also available to download from the GB website that can be awarded alongside the badge, instead of a second pin badge or perhaps for older member or leaders who would prefer it to a badge.
Serenity from 1st Eastleigh has already been awarded the badge for her great work in recruiting new members to her group. 5-year-old Serenity made invitations to send to her friends, encouraging them to come and join her and she was successful in gaining new members at the group.
If you’re interested in encouraging your young people to have a go at recruiting their friends, you could spend an evening making cards, invitations or posters that can be sent out or shared in your community. You could also host a bring-a-friend evening using one of our resources which have been designed with taster sessions in mind. Find them here.
Girls’ Brigade leaders can download the Bring a Friend certificate from our resources area here. The pin badges can be purchased from GB Trading.
