Girls’ Brigade member chooses to be baptised

news

Last month 10-year-old n:gage member Rachel from 1st Durham was baptised. She was inspired by others she had witnessed being baptised at the church and approached the vicar herself to talk about the opportunity.

Jo Thoy, Team Leader at 1st Durham attended Rachel’s baptism and said, ‘It was a most thrilling occasion for me as I know that Rachel’s faith is very real and I am always amazed not only by her knowledge of the Bible but also by her acute awareness of God in her life.’

Rachel shared her powerful testimony…

‘I want to get baptised because I want to follow Jesus and do everything he says and make the world a better place because God and Jesus said to make the world a better place. Jesus said we should be lights in the world so we should all be together in one group and be nice to other people.

‘I have faith in God and Jesus because they are both amazing and make this a wonderful place for us to live in. I believe that Jesus died for all of us on the cross because he loves us and wants us to be able to be friends with God again and get to know him more. I believe that God is big, strong and mighty to save. He is the most powerful God and we are his children.’

Rachel’s family acknowledged the influence that GB has had in Rachel’s life. She has been a member of 1st Durham for five years and Jo is looking forward to Rachel sharing her news with the other girls in n:gage as she’s sure that God will use her to reach out to them too.
