As the group have not been able to hold a parade service for more than a year, they decided to get creative and put together a service led by their GB and Boys’ Brigade, with various elements involving the children, pre-recorded or Zoomed in, added to the live-streamed service at Woking United Reformed Church.
Team Leader Sue Loudon says ‘Our girls took part in a cooking activity over Zoom, making rocky road. I’d previously delivered goody bags with all the ingredients needed to the girls’ homes, and then we all made our rocky road together during our weekly Zoom session. This was recorded and shown during the Palm Sunday service as part of the talk about Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and was a great way to show the church family what we get up to on a typical GB Zoom session.
‘As well as this video, we also had videos of the girls and boys saying prayers, singing a worship song, a pre-recorded Zoom sketch and all the children joined a Zoom call at the beginning of the service so they could all wave and say hello to the church family as the service began. The service was a great success and we’ve received lots of positive feedback from church members and the children’s families.’
